Counselling is a talking therapy that involves speaking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. There are different types of counselling, psychotherapy and talking therapies, but the main aim for all types of therapy is to:
Give you an opportunity to talk through problems, make sense of things and increase your own self-awareness, including your own strengths.
Allow you the time and space, in a safe place, to talk without any judgement.
Support you to better manage or resolve complicated feelings.
Enable you to recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or act, identify areas you would like to change, and support you with achieving goals.

Your Counsellor provides a safe environment where you can explore your issues and will be highly trained in listening and reflecting. With most types of therapy, you are free to discuss what you wish, from everyday events, dilemmas, feelings, and thoughts, to regrets, aspirations, memories and dreams.
Other, shorter-term forms of therapy like solution focused therapy can be more structured, and can provide practical exercises to help you understand your thoughts and actions.
Our team will work with you to see what approach is going to work best for you.
